CAP Christians Against Poverty

Christians Against PovertyChristians Against Poverty is an amazing organisation which seeks to eradicate poverty in the UK.

Some of the different causes of poverty are identified as: Debt itself, Addiction to anything that is life controlling, difficulty in budgeting and managing our money, or an inability to get employment or improve earning potential within employment. As a church we partner with CAP in some of these areas wishing to make a difference in Nuneaton and Bedworth.

Debt:

As a church we have become a local CAP Debt Centre which offers an excellent professional service to people in debt. This is offered free of charge to the client, and enables them to manage their debt, relieving the anxiety of constant attention from creditors.  Our Centre Manager Terry Salter works alongside a team of people from the church, who act as befrienders and offer general support.

All the professional expertise is held by CAP headquarters in Bradford, while the local contact is through the local church here.

More information about CAP is available at their website.

Addiction:

Our newest service: "Fresh Start" started on the 4th October 2018.  This provides a way of breaking free from those life controlling habits that can otherwise cause us much heart ache as well as debt.  Whether you are addicted to drugs or Caffeine, alcohol or Eastenders, Fresh start hopes to help.  If you are interested in attending please contact the church office for more details.

Budgeting:

We  also partner with CAP to run three week Money Mangement courses from time to time.  We have a fully trained team who are able to help people learn budgeting skills when they find it difficult to make ends meet.  If you would like to attend a course, please contact the office who will take your details - who knows, you may be the person we were waiting for to justify the next course.

Employment:

One day we hope to also be able to offer CAP Job club which will help with everything from writing your CV to interview techniques.  Watch this space for details.
