Back in 2016 we met as a whole congregation to seek God's vision for us as a church and we later  unanimously agreed to commence renovations of the main worship area.  These would involve:

  • Removing the pulpit, choir stalls and redundant pipe organ.
  • Extending back into what was the "powerhouse".
  • Building a new baptistery in the middle of the church.
  • Insulating the ceiling and decorating the church to look more modern and enhance the architectural features.

The outcomes were planned to be:

  • A staging area that would allow more flexibility for concerts and theatre productions;
  • Baptisms being at the centre of our celebrating together;
  • And an increased seating capacity downstairs to about 220;
  • and a larger permanent projection area that is protected from sun glare and ready for our cinema club for Junior school children.

With one or things yet to do this work is tantalisingly close being finished. We are back into the main worship area and starting to enjoy its new feel.  However we still have some new heating and carpet to be fitted before we can declare this phase as complete.  Once it though, we will be celebrating its completion and having an open weekend for all to come in and see, so watch this space.  Have a look at the photos and see what you think to the new shape of MCBC as it has grown.
